Science is often overlooked in classroom play

Are you looking to get your pre schoolers problem solving, thinking creatively and asking questions about how things work?

Children love to experiment and discover and try new things for themselves. Our hands on activities use the science of toys to explore cause and effect whilst utilising the senses and cover many of the EYLF learning outcomes.

Early Learning & preschool science workshops

Our early learners workshops are a fully hands on sensory experience, exploring cause and effect, problem solving and encouraging your young scientists to ask ‘lets find out’ how things work. Children are naturally curious, and our series of 20 hands on activities are based upon classic toys which explore ideas such as energy, forces, gravity and balance, magnets, light and reflection, sound and circuits. Children explore the joy of science through play, wonder and discovery.

The session wraps up with explanations of the children’s favourite experiments and reinforces the idea that an experiment is a way to find out how things work, and that changing the way you use the equipment can change what happens next.

Our presenter from Young Scientists was so engaging. He had our little scientists mesmerised, and wanting to investigate. This hands on incursion encouraged our preschoolers to observe, investigate, problem solve, theorise, and communicate any findings. It’s in-line with the Early Years Learning Framework, and facilitates learning in Outcome 4 and 5. Our young scientists experienced the benefits of collaborative learning, as they investigated with and alongside their friends. After the incursion was finished, many children extended their own learning by looking for ‘the science’ in our classrooms and outdoor environment. The children and educators loved it so much, we booked it for 2023 Science Week.

Booking a science session is easy

STEP 1

Head to the contact page and fill in the form with the desired dates for your preschool, child’s birthday party or vacation care science session.

STEP 2

We’ll get back to you within 2 days confirming availability and requesting further details so we can select which science activities are going to be the most exciting and appropriate for your group.

STEP 3

On the day, we’ll arrive on time and with everything we need for the science presentation. And after an engaging, interactive science presentation, we’ll pack up, clean up, and be on our way.
